Pic shows: The walkway when it first opened at the end of the month.nnA glass-bottom walkway installed on the side of a cliff has cracked under the pressure of huge throngs during the week-long National Day holidays.nnA glass plane on the cliffside walkway at Yuntai Mountain Scenic Park in Xiuwu county, in central ChinaΏs Henan Province, reportedly broke with a crack while thousands of tourists were passing along the 260-metre-long path.nnWitnesses said the 68-centimetre-wide glass pane cracked when they walked over it, and the screams of one woman yelling "ItΏs broken. ItΏs really broken" caused a miniature stampede towards the end of the path.nnThe scenic walkway was just one of many similar transparent tourist attractions that were opened ahead of the seven-day national holidays which started October 1, and the large crowds were the first real test for the engineering of the walkway in one of ChinaΏs 5A tourist sites Ώ which represent the top of the five-tier ranking for tourist destinations.nnDespite the walkway being fitted with three layers of reinforced glass, capable of withstanding weight of 800 kilograms per square metre, a picture of the broken walkway clearly shows the safety glass splintering in a web-like manner.nnReports said scenic park management blamed tourists for the scare, saying that it was one visitorΏs metallic Thermos flask that dropped, and finally proved to be too much for the highly anticipated attraction.nn(ends)n

Πανικός επικράτησε στο κινεζικό όρος Γιουντάι όταν τουρίστες αντιλήφθηκαν πως ράγισε το διάφανο μονοπάτι που επιτρέπει έναν περίπατο σε πλαγιά ύψους ενός χιλιομέτρου!

Μια γυναίκα αντιλήφθηκε τον ήχο του ραγίσματος και τράβηξε τις φωτογραφίες οι οποίες στάθηκαν αρκετές για τις κινεζικές αρχές προκειμένου να κλείσουν τη γέφυρα ώστε να εξεταστεί η ασφάλεια της.
